Clinical Nurse Practitioner

CHS is responsible for the delivery and management of comprehensive institutional health programmes for personnel and students of Stellenbosch University (SU).

Duties/Pligte
  • Verskaffing van omvattende gesondheidsorg (voorkomend en kuratief) aan personeel en studente op al die kampusse van die Universiteit Stellenbosch, as deel van ‘n multi-

professionele span;

  • Noodsorg van pasiënte (bv. neem van EKG’s, nebulisasies, asook van die perseel af, ens.);
  • Verpleegkundige ondersteuningsdienste by sport- en ander byeenkomste op alle kampusse van SU (wat beskikbaarheid na-ure en op openbare vakansiedae insluit volgens ‘n rotasie

rooster);

  • Toediening van medikasie (soos bepaal deur die bestek van praktyk) en toediening van immunisasies;
  • Operasionele bestuursverantwoordelikhede soos bepaal deur die multi-professionele span binne Kampusgesondheid as ‘n eenheid;
  • Deelname aan institusionele aktiwiteite wat van toepassing is op dienslewering (bv. Institusionele praatjies, seminare, werkswinkels, ens.);
  • Ontwikkeling van innoverende en beroepspesifieke prosesse en programme om dienslewering voortdurend te verbeter.

  • Providing comprehensive health care (preventative and curative) to staff and students on the campuses of Stellenbosch University, as part of a multi-professional team;
  • Providing emergency care to patients (e.g. performing ECG’s, nebulisations, including off-site assessments, etc.);
  • Providing nursing support services at sport and other events on US campuses (which includes availability after-hours and on public holidays on rotation according to a roster);
  • Dispensing medications (as defined by your scope of practice) and administering immunisations to patients;
  • Operational management responsibilities, as determined by the multi-professional team within Campus Health as a unit;
  • Participating in appropriate institutional activities which impact on service delivery (e.g. institutional presentations, seminars, workshops, etc.);
  • Developing innovative and occupational-specific processes and programmes to continuously improve service delivery at CHS.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
  • Registrasie by die Suid-Afrikaanse Raad op Verpleging (SARV) as Kliniese Verpleegkundige;
  • Nagraadse kwalifikasie in Primêre Gesondheidsorg;
  • Minstens tien jaar ervaring as Professionele Verpleegkundige;
  • Sertifikaat in die toediening van medisyne;
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)“ of ander gelykwaardige opleiding in noodsorg;
  • Geldige Suid-Afrikaanse rybewys;
  • Toepaslike ervaring in die gebruik van informasietegnologie;
  • Bewese beplannings- en organiserings vaardighede;
  • Probleemoplossingsvaardighede binne kliniese span verband;
  • Uitstekende kommunikasievaardighede binne n’ kliniese span verband;
  • Bewese vermoë om in multi-professionele spanverband te kan werk;
  • Vermoë om onder druk te funksioneer;
  • ‘n Sterk ingesteldheid op kliëntediens.

  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner;
  • Postgraduate qualification in Primary Health Care (PHC);
  • At least ten years’ experience as a Professional Registered Nurse Certificate in the dispensing of medicine;
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent training in emergency care;
  • Valid South African driver’s licence;
  • Appropriate experience in the use of information technology;
  • Demonstrable planning and organisational skills;
  • Problem-solving skills on a clinical team functioning level;
  • Excellent communication skills, on a clinical team functioning level;
  • Proven ability to work well within a multi-professional team environment;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • A strong inclination towards client service.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling
  • Nagraadse kwalifikasie in noodgeneeskunde;
  • Nagraadse kwalifikasie in psigiatrie;
  • Ervaring in die lewering van verpleegdienste aan tersiêre studente;
  • Opleiding en ervaring in seksuele gesondheidsprogramme;
  • Kennis en ervaring van finansiële bestuursprosesse;
  • Formele opleiding in MIV/Vigs programme;
  • Opleiding in die uitvoer van spirometrie, EKG, bors ondersoeke en servikale smere;
  • Enige ander toepaslike nagraadse opleiding.

  • Postgraduate qualification in emergency medicine;
  • Postgraduate qualification in psychiatry;
  • Experience in the delivery of primary nursing care to a tertiary student population;
  • Training and experience in sexual health programmes;
  • Knowledge and experience in financial management processes;
  • Formal training in HIV/ AIDS programmes;
  • Training in the performance of spirometry, ECG, breast examinations and cervical smears;
  • Any other appropriate postgraduate training.
