Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment: School of Electrical and Information Engineering. IT Technician (Grade 11). The School of Electrical and Information Engineering is looking for a suitable person to fill the position as a Technician in our undergraduate computer facility.

Brief Description
The applicant must have relevant experience in maintaining and managing a computer facility. Qualifications: Minimum: National N Diploma (N6) or equivalent; Preferred: a relevant BTech or BSc Engineering degree. Duties: The duties involve: • Training new Electrical Engineering computer facility staff members and administrators; • Supervising and assisting students in the computer facility with computer hardware and software related issues; • Assisting lecturers and demonstrators during practical sessions and examinations/tests; • Creating workstation images; • Cloning of images; • Software installation and testing; • Network connection testing and repairs in and outside the computer laboratory; • Assisting staff with basic laptop/desktop configurations; • Managing the audio visual system in the computer laboratory; • Processing faulty workstations; • Preparing weekly or monthly reports for the computer laboratory technical, academic supervisors and the Head of School on the state of the laboratory; • Managing the booking system of the laboratory and its daily operation; • Working with service providers during the maintenance, upgrade or replacement of any system in the laboratory.
