Cashbook Clerk (6 month contract)

Ecowize is looking for a skilled, versatile and competent Cashbook Clerk Temp with experience in managing the invoicing function & cashbook function, following up on purchase orders and assisting within the Finance department.

Please note that it is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract.

Job specification

The primary focus of this position is the full responsibility for cashbook function, incl:

•Performs full cashbook and bank reconciliation function on Accpac ERP & ensure adherence to policy
•Petty Cash administration including cash payments – ensure zero errors and duplicated transactions
•Following up and clearing of reconciling items
•Foreign and ad-hoc payments –
•Payment processing, payment reconciliations &
•Processes payment of creditor and ad-hoc invoices by electronic fund transfer and cheque
•Completes foreign exchange documents and liaise with bankers on foreign exchange matters related to payments
•Ensure accurate and timeous payment of all accounts
•Reports weekly cash outflow requirement to Team Leader – Accounts and highlight any risks to Financial Manager and Team Leader –
Accounts in this area
•Assists during the half-year and year-end (audits)
•Ensures complete confidentiality in the delivery of the complete function
•Files supporting documentation related to banking and foreign exchange to ensure completeness of these records
•Files paid invoices and bank audit reports for completeness of records and external audit review
•Ensure that all remittances are received in order to have the receipts allocated accordingly
•Assist with the timeous Amongst other duties ensure that all transactions are recorded in the correct account, period and classification


Job requirements

•Studying toward an Accounting qualification will be advantageous
•Previous experience as a Cashbook Clerk is essential
•Accpac experience is essential
•Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Cashbook in a fast-paced environment advantageous
•Be able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
•Must be able to work as part of a team
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
•Excellent MS Office skills, specifically Excel
