Position Title : CCTV Operator

Position Purpose :
To conduct all activities associated with Security Control Room operations which include the monitoring and administration of the CCTV System installed as well as conduct general security administration to ensure compliance with maritime transport security requirements as contemplated in the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

Position outputs :
⦁ Monitor and control CCTV cameras, detection and associated security systems.
⦁ Regular testing and control communication medium between the control room and guards deployed in the facility.
⦁ Coordinate Security patrols within the facility and record situation reports from all security sites/deployment arrears.
⦁ Relay information regarding change in security situations to the Port Facility Security Officer or delegate.
⦁ Liaise with emergency/police service control rooms during security incident and coordinate the implementation of instructions from the PFSO, delegate or management.
⦁ Coordinate actions of security response unit, deployment of security personnel at the scene of an incident and coordinate field surveillance activities within the Port facility.
⦁ Compile incident reports and capture security incidents on the Transnet Occurrence Management System (TOMS)/Security
⦁ Shared Folder and logging of the incidents in the Control Room Occurrence Book and Incident Register.
⦁ Safe guarding of Control Room Equipment as per the handing over entry.
⦁ Maintain Security system register including tests and calibrations of security equipment, condition and status of security lighting and power supplies, status of locks to restricted arrears, safes and strong rooms, condition and status of fencing (perimeter, facility and restricted arrears).
⦁ Maintain security registers in use in the control room and issuing of permits after approval by the PFSO or delegate.
⦁ Record requests for additional security measures as identified by the Declaration of Security between the port facility and the ship.
⦁ Monitor movement of hazardous cargo within the facility and upkeep of emergency procedures and contact details of first responders.
⦁ Monitor rail and abnormal vehicle movements and coordinate site inspections by three security supervisors.
⦁ Coordinate security related visits by Transnet/TPT Management team.
⦁ Liaise with port control/ TNPA security control room to monitor waterside and port wide security measures and activities.
⦁ Safekeeping of recorded information as prescribed in the Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS0 document).
⦁ Preserve, extract, prepare and present evidence acquired through the monitoring systems for the purpose of internal and external hearings on instruction of PFSO.

Qualifications & Experience :

⦁ Matric
⦁ PSIRA Registration as CCTV Operator
⦁ Computer Literacy
⦁ Relevant training in CCTV operations, preferably on IP based system
⦁ 6 -12 months experience in a security control room environment
